Economic, quantitative and qualitative analysis

The starting point for all analysis is asking the right questions. We work with our clients to frame these questions at the outset of each project, and to identify the economic, quantitative and qualitative components that will deliver answers.

Our strong quantitative skills help our clients understand health and social care in the present, and plan for the future. We examine population trends and disease prevalence, healthcare demand, inequalities, service provision, outcomes and costs (though of course not every project requires all of these). We are skilled in a wide range of analytical techniques including Markov modelling, discrete event simulation, system dynamics modelling, database interrogation and the analysis of large datasets.

Our qualitative work helps our clients see what lies behind the numbers. We use a range of interviews, surveys and focus groups to learn about the why and the how. Patients, clinicians, providers and commissioners can all shed light on what needs to change and how it can be done.

The knowledge generated from our analysis empowers our clients to make informed decisions.

These skills have many applications, such as evaluation, cost effectiveness analysis, capacity planning, service design and implementation, return on investment modelling, business cases and more.

Our reputation is reflected in our large number of peer-reviewed papers for influential medical journals. See our publications.

But not every question requires the kind of analysis that leads to a peer-reviewed paper.

Whatever type of analysis you need, we'll ensure it's robust and credible.

We can provide the evidence that will help you unlock opportunities for innovation, efficiency and improvement.
